FAQs
Got questions about residential dust control? We’ve got answers! Below are the most common questions about permits, applications, flags, payments, and county coordination.
Yes. A new permit is required annually. Old permits cannot be reused, and each county has its own specific guidelines. Deano’s coordinates directly with the county to submit permits once completed.
The permit must be signed by the property resident/owner. Unsigned permits cannot be accepted or submitted to the county. This ensures compliance with county rules and proper authorization for treatment.
Late applications will only receive the second application. County deadlines are critical because they allow time for roads to be prepared, maps and instructions to be distributed to blade operators, and Deano’s to schedule treatments efficiently.
Submitting your permit on time helps avoid delays or confusion for both your property and other residents in your area. To ensure you receive the treatment you want and that your road is properly prepared, please submit your permit and payment by the listed deadline. Timely submission keeps the process smooth for everyone and ensures the best results for your road.
Yes. You must place flags or other clear markings for the start and end of the area to be treated.
Flags help Deano’s drivers apply treatment accurately
Flags help county blade operators identify treated areas to avoid
Flags or other clear markings must be placed from April 15th through October 15th to guide drivers and county blade operators
Disclaimer: Deano’s or the county is not responsible for placing or maintaining flags. If flags are missing or unclear, treatment will be applied at the driver’s discretion, or the application may be canceled. Failure to follow county flagging guidelines may result in treated areas being bladed through.
The county maintains the right to blade through treated areas whenever road infrastructure may be affected, safety could be compromised, or conditions are deemed hazardous. Some county permits may require residents to maintain potholes or other road issues to help protect the roadway. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in blading.
Each county has its own standards, policies, and procedures, which are determined by the county road foreman and local road maintainer.
Important: Neither Deano’s Road Dust Control nor the county is responsible for areas that are bladed during the season. Blading is part of the county’s routine maintenance schedule, and Deano’s has no authority or control over preparation, blading, or timing.
Deano’s coordinates directly with the county for road approvals and scheduling, so all the customer needs to do is submit their signed permit and complete payment to secure their treatment.
The county releases roads as a whole, not by individual properties
The county may blade treated areas if road infrastructure is affected, safety is at risk, or conditions are hazardous
Some counties may require residents to maintain potholes or other road conditions; failure may result in blading
Important: Neither Deano’s nor the county is responsible for areas that are bladed. Blading is part of the county’s maintenance schedule, and Deano’s has no control over it

We primarily use chloride for residential roads. These products are safe, odor-free, and highly effective, working by attracting moisture to suppress dust and improve road conditions.
Our treatments are applied with a computerized spray system, ensuring even coverage and consistent results. For projects with special requirements, we can also provide other specialty products tailored to your needs.
Please note: heavy rain or flooding may reduce the effectiveness of treatment, and applications cannot be repeated due to weather-related dilution, as this is outside our control.
Once your permit is submitted, the county receives the information to prepare the roads and provide maps or directions to blade operators. Any changes after this point may cause miscommunication, delays, or missed areas, since the county and Deano’s rely on the original permit to plan treatment.
To ensure your road receives the treatment you want, please fill out your permit accurately the first time, including all measurements, markings, and instructions. Once the county releases the roads, Deano’s will follow the submitted permit exactly.
